Summary:

A revisionist parody of the 1992 film Aladdin, the musical tells the film's story from the point of view of the film's villain, Ja'far, in a nod to the musical Wicked, which told the familiar story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from the point of view of The Wicked Witch of the West. In addition to Aladdin and Wicked, the musical also parodies several other Disney films and stage musicals, as well as the history of The Walt Disney Company.

Auditions Requirements:

People interested in auditioning MUST BE 14 years old or older at the time of auditions, no exceptions.

 

Please prepare the following:

Headshot and resume.

Around a one minute cut of music in the style of the show. No pianist will be provided, so you will need to have either a karaoke version or piano version of your song.

A list of conflicts where you can not make rehearsals between January 9th and February 28th.

Any conflicts that you list between the time you are cast and first rehearsal will need to be approved by the director and stage manager. Any conflicts after first rehearsal starts will not be accepted barring emergencies.

 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AUDITIONING FOR THE SPLIT TRACK OF THE SULTAN AND DJINN:

There is also a required 30-60 second monologue that shows your comedic and/or improv skills. Again the monologue is only for people interested in auditioning for Sultan/Djinn.

Characters:

Ja'far: 25-50, Male presenting, Tenor.

Princess: 18-30, Female presenting, needs to look around 16 years of age, Mezzo-Soprano Belt

Aladdin: 20-35, Male presenting, Tenor, must be comfortable with wearing no shirt and only a small vest on stage.

Sherrezade: 20-40, Female presenting, Mezzo-Soprano.

Prince Achmed: No age requirement, Male Presenting, Tenor.

Sultan/Djinn: No age requirement, No preference on gender, Any singing Voice.

Captain: 20-40, Male Presenting, Bass/Baritone speaking Voice.

Ensemble: 14+, needing 3 female presenting actors and 3 male presenting actors, All Voices Needed. Small featured parts are given to ensemble members.

Is There Video Auditions?

Yes! Please send in any video auditions if you can not make it to auditions or callbacks. You will be given specific scenes or songs to send in for callbacks.

Pay Rates:

Each Actor will be given a $250 stipend within two weeks on the final performance.
